13 labours killed in sleep as truck crushes on their hut

Cumilla Correspondent: Thirteen people have died in Cumilla’s Chouddagram as a coal-laden Truck tumbled over and fell on their hut, says police.

The incident, which left five others injured, was reported around 5:30am on Friday (Jan 25) at a brickfield in Chauddogram’s Narauyanpur area.

The victims were workers at the brickfield.

“While unloading coal at the brickfield, the truck turned over and fell onto a labours’ shade, where the victims were asleep, killing 12 of them in an instant,” Chouddagram Police OC Md Mahfuz said quoting the locals.

“Locals joined the fire service and police personnel in the rescue and another died while the injured were being taken to the Upazila Health Complex,” he added.
