Womenbd Desk: At least 986 children have been killed in various incidents of violence and accidents in 2019, says Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF).
According to a report released by the non- government organisation, of the victims, 553 were killed in different road accidents, 252 in drowning, while 361 other incidents of violence.
The report which was prepared based on news published on eight national dailies from January to December 2019, was unveiled at a press conference held at National Press Club today.
The report stated that the number of positive news on the children has decreased significantly last year due to a large number of killing and violence incidents.
Addressing the event, MJF Executive Director Shaheen Anam said: “The incidents are taking place one after another, but there is no resolution.”
“As a result, the perpetrators are thinking there will be no justice,” she added.
The organisation demanded exemplary punishment for the culprits to stop violence against children.
