Babul Hridoy: State Minister for Labour and Employment Munnujan Sufian today announced that the government will provide Tk one lakh to each families of the workers who were killed in the Friday’s road crash at Chouddagram.
A media release from the Ministry of Labour and Employment has confirmed the news this morning.
At least 13 workers were killed and five others injured when a coal-laden truck overturned on Dhaka-Chattogram highway at Narayanpur under Chouddagram upazila of Cumilla on Friday.
The accident took place around 7:15 am on the day when the truck skidded off the road as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving the 13 workers dead on the spot, injuring five others, said Mahfuz Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Chouddagram Police Station.
The deceased were identified as Ranjit Chandra Roy, 30, Topon Chandra Roy, 25, Md Selim, 28, Biplob, 19, Shonkor Chandra Roy, 22, Dipu Chandra Roy, 19, Amit Chandra Roy, 20, Morsalin, 18, Md. Masum, 18, Monoronjon Chandra Roy, 19, Mrinal Chandra Roy, 21, Bikash Chandra Roy, 28 and Kolek Chandra Roy, 35.
The bodies have been handed over to the relatives.
