After teasing a joint project for weeks, Prada and Adidas are finally sharing the debut products from their collaboration. The first is an all-white take on the Adidas Superstar sneaker, made in Italy by Prada, which will come in a limited edition of 700. The sneaker will be released as unisex and features an edition number embossed on the outside, as well as the Prada logo on the tongue and side. In addition to the shoe, the brands are releasing a large version of Prada’s bowling bag tote, also in white leather, that hybridizes Prada’s iconic silhouette with the functionality of an Adidas gym bag. The items will be sold together as a set.
Both brands have a long history of fusing sport with pop culture. The Superstar sneaker, first released in 1969 as a basketball shoe, quickly transcended its sport purpose to become a cultural icon worn by the likes of Run DMC and the Beastie Boys. Prada has its own cultural cred thanks to its Prada Sport collections, now branded as Prada Linea Rossa, which turn the label’s signature nylon into outdoors apparel, skiwear, techy ready-to-wear and accessories. (Remember Frank Ocean’s 2019 Met Gala anorak…that’s Prada Linea Rossa in action.) The Superstar shoe and Bowling Bag bring those worlds together—and would pair nicely with either an Adidas tracksuit or maybe one of Prada’s groovy camp shirts.
Both items will be available in select Prada and Adidas stores as well as online on December 4, making them the perfect holiday gift for the fashion fan in your life—or, you know, for yourself.
