Womenbd Desk: Awami League President Sheikh Hasina has held the party’s helm again while Obaidul Quader has been elected the General Secretary in its 21st National Council today.
Thousands of party supporters and councillors hailed the two top leaders after the election.
The ruling party chose the new leadership for the next three years on Saturday, the second day of its council, at the session held at the Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB).
AL Presidium Member Advocate Abdul Matin Khasru proposed Sheikh Hasina’s name as the president, while Presidium Member Pijush Kanti Bhattacharya seconded it. Chief Election Commissioner Yousuf Hossain Humayun declared her re-elected as nobody contested.
