Rajinikanth’s last three films may have grossed more than Rs 1000 crore at the worldwide box office but when it comes to the Telugu language version, all three of his films – Petta, 2.0 and Kaala have failed.
At a time superstars are finding it difficult to bring in moolah, Rajinikanth, in a span of just 7 months, has grossed in more than Rs 1000 crore at the worldwide box office thanks to his three films Kaala, 2.0 and the latest Petta. While Petta has made more than Rs 250 crore at the worldwide box office, it has turned out to be a disaster in its Hindi version and in fact, has even failed to rock the ticket window even in its Telugu version.
With lacklustre box office in its Telugu version, Petta, shockingly, has become Rajinikanth’s third consecutive flop in the version after Kaala and 2.0. According to the reports, Petta could make only Rs 6 crore approx in Telugu states when its theatrical rights were sold at more than the double of what it has earned so far i.e Rs 14 crore.
