A Khulna court on Saturday sent three teenagers to a juvenile correction centre on charge of gang-raping a 17-year-old girl in the city’s Khalishpur area on October 29.
The three were sent to Khulna Juvenile Correction Centre, said Sabbirul Alam, officer-in-charge of Khalishpur Police Station.The OC said one of the boys had an “affair” with the victim. On the day of the incident, he called the girl and asked her to meet him at an orchard in the locality.
When the girl arrived, the three raped her, the OC said, adding that a woman in the neighbourhood rescued the girl after hearing her screams.Following a case filed by the victim’s mother with Khalishpur Police Station on Saturday, police detained the three from different areas in the city.
Meanwhile, police arrested three people in a case filed over allegedly raping a ninth grader in Khulna’s Sonadanga upazila.
The arrestees, Bashir Howladar, 22, Kabir Howladar, 48, and Ashfaq Hossain, 28, are residents of the upazila, said Bidhan Chandra Roy, sub-inspector (SI) of Sonadanga Police Station.
The SI said the victim had an “affair” with Bashir, who is already married and has a son.
On October 21, Bashir brought the girl to a house in the upazila with a promise to marry her and “raped” her several times till October 30, SI Bidhan said, quoting the case statement.The other two accused helped him in “deceiving the girl”, said the SI, who is also the investigation officer of the case.
