Three held over Naogaon housewife abduction, rape

A woman has been abducted and raped, allegedly by three men, in Mohadebpur Upazila of Naogaon district.
The incident occurred near Saraswatipur Bazar area of the upazila on Thursday (Oct 17) evening.
The alleged perpetrators are Sirajul Islam, 36, Mithu, 38, and Babu, 40, residents of Chakraza village of the upazila.
Naohatamor police outpost Sub-Inspector (SI) Farid said, “Police have arrested the trio from their respective homes late on Saturday (Oct 19) night.
Mohadebpur police OC Nazrul Islam Jewel said: “After the incident, the trio attempted to bribe the woman’s relatives to cover up the crime.”
“However, locals informed the police and we arrested the suspects,” said OC Nazrul.
“The rape survivor has filed a case against the trio with Mohadebpur police station,” he said before adding, “She has been sent to Naogaon Sadar Hospital for medical examination on Sunday.”
On Thursday evening, the woman was abducted by the trio from Saraswatipur Bazar area of the upazila, while she was returning to her husband’s home after a visit to her parents’ residence.
After the abduction, they took her to a nearby deserted rice mill and gang raped her in turns.
Hearing her screams, locals rescued the woman and captured Sirajul. However, his associates fled the scene.
Later, they took the rape survivor to her home and handed over Sirajul to the police.
