Women BD Desk: The Bangladesh Women’s Football League will roll on the field this October after a long hiatus of six years, informed BFF women’s wing committee chairman Mahfuza Akhter Kiron in a press conference Thursday (May 30) at the BFF House in Dhaka.
Kiron said a total of six-eight teams will take part in the league that will be organized by the BFF, reports Dhaka Tribune.
BFF will invite its affiliated organizations and clubs but only those parties which will meet the BFF’s requirements will participate in the league.
Among the criterion, each club must have a coach with a “C” licence, a general secretary, a coordinator or a media officer and practice facilities.
The clubs must also keep in touch with the BFF regarding their financial position.
BFF GS Abu Nayeem Shohag said, “Many are interested in women’s football. Hence, we have placed some demands. Only those who fulfil our requirements will be eligible to take part. We want to make sure that no one club will go into oblivion, that’s why the structure of the clubs and organizations must be strong.”
BJMC and Bangladesh Ansar are almost certain to take part in the league while the other participating clubs will be decided by the BFF within the next month.
Shohag expressed delight at being able to bring back the league after such a long absence.
He added, “Due to player shortage, it was tough to hold the league. Now we have a lot of players. In this league, all the age-level players from across the country can play. I hope the participating teams will be able to recruit players.”
